Lawrence was also a jazz musician who played at various local venues and traveled with the R&B group, The Coasters. He helped organize and direct the first Miss Black Chattanooga pageant. He was a member of Armistice Elks Lodge #440. Lawrence served his community as a young adult by being an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop # 214 sponsored by the 9th St. After retirement, he was a handyman and worked for Goodwill of Atlanta, as well as Community Action, happily serving anyone in need. He also worked as a concrete finisher for TVA and retired from TVA in the late 1980s. Later he worked at several area country clubs as a server. After graduation he was employed as a maintenance man for Chattanooga Housing Authority. Lawrence graduated from Howard High School in 1957. He was born on June 22, 1938, in Chattanooga ,TN to Richard and Lillian Griffin. , 85, of Chattanooga, TN, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Joy was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and Scenic Friends. She served as clerk of court in Punta Gorda, FL until retirement. Joy was born in Detroit, MI, on September 9, 1938, the daughter of the late Robert Bernard Hudson and Rose Hudson. Joy Delle Bilbrey age 85, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
